Snow Day

Well, the dream of yesterday’s SNOW EVENT, became a reality today.  Luckily, they closed school so I don’t even have to worry about driving.  So, in light of the weather, here is my plan for the day:

-Eating my mom’s patented Snow Day breakfast of Toast with Hot Chocolate (DONE!).  Which, if you haven’t ever tried you have too.  And, take it from me, dip the toast in the hot chocolate.  It’s the way God intended it to be eaten.

-Looking out my windows.

IMG00105-20100211-1045 In this case, someone (with too much time on their hands) wrote “I Heart Snow” on the pavement of my parking lot.  Then some jerk parked over the “W”.  How rude.

iheartsnow

Of course, 45 minutes after I took this picture the message is almost completely covered by snow.  But still, the sentiment holds true.

-Reading a good book.  I’m torn between rereading “Scarlett” and starting “Prince of Tides”.

-Checking facebook every other half hour to see if someone has posted pictures of Katy’s baby Ginger, yet.

Happy Birthday Ginger Evans.  You are a precious (and prompt) baby.

Hope you all have a wonderful Snow Day.  Stay warm and safe!

Who’s With Me??

Who else has started to cleaning out their pantry fueled with energy and high hopes?  You get about one shelf done…..

SANY0724

SANY0727

And then you realize you’re exhausted and don’t have the energy to finish the other four shelves.

So you have to make a choice.  Live like this for a few days:

SANY0726 Or finish your shelf.

Tough decision.  What would you do?

Denial. It Ain’t Just a River in Egypt.

012

Christmas Decorations.  They’ve been packed up and waiting patiently since Saturday.  In the middle of my living room floor.

013 Cardboard boxes.  Sitting right next to the door, all ready to head to their final resting place.

And the piece de resistance…..

014 Laundry Basket.  Waiting, waiting, waiting.  Did I mention I have two laundry baskets and only posted a picture of the tidier one?

I imagine there are plenty of excuses I could give for why none of this has been taken care of.  But, I get tired of hearing them since I tell them to myself hourly.

Honestly, I’m just waiting for some kind soul to drop by and offer to do it all for me.

Any takers?

Bling Blog

I’m about to show you something truly frightening.  My jewelry drawer.  Prepare yourself:

SANY0675 Scary, huh?

SANY0678 These are actually the before shots.

SANY0677(Thank goodness.)

SANY0676 I can truthfully say that I am embarrassed it got this bad.  I truly LOVE jewelry.  It’s my thing.  But, I’m willing to confess I may have a problem with getting rid of it.  I console myself by saying that it doesn’t take up that much space (just two full drawers) and it isn’t really a big deal.  But, seriously?  This is just sad.

So, I decided to take care of business and clean house (all the sudden this blog became a really terrible reality show).  And I spread all my baubles out on my bed.

SANY0680 Jewelry as far as the eye can see…..

SANY0682

I think the reason why I have trouble getting rid of it is because you never know when you will have to go to a costume party that requires you to wear stained glass earrings…..

SANY0683 Or maybe it’s because I remember the time that I wore these earrings and Josh Linam told me I looked like “an Egyptian princess”.  What girl doesn’t want to feel like an Egyptian princess every day?

SANY0684 Anyway, here’s the finished product:

SANY0686 No longer an eyesore.

And, since I’m sure inquiring minds want to know.  I counted the pairs of earrings I had and BEFORE the overhaul, and I am sad to confess that I owned 108 pairs.  Yikes.

After?  94.  Aren’t you proud of my sacrifice?

Because I Got Nothin’ Else…

Well, I figured it was time to enter my bi-monthly post.  I’ve been falling down on the job lately, as a blogger, and I’d like to apologize to the one of your who occasionally happens to read my blog.  You deserve better and I’m going to try and give it to you…

So, since nothing celebrates your Freedom more than a little craft project, I thought I’d show you something that I have been working on lately.

015 I purchased this frame on sale a few months ago at Garden Ridge.  I love unusual frames and thought the circular shape and the carvings around the edges were great!  I inserted a piece of scrapbook paper I got from Hobby Lobby and I thought it was wonderful, but the frame was a little too dark, and a lot of the cool details were fading into the background.

So, I made a massive mistake.  I decided to paint it, since that is my solution to everything.  I thought it would really compliment the paper in the middle if it was a beautiful pale pink.  Unfortunately, pale pink, quickly turned into nightmarish pepto pink with, what was supposed to be a metallic accent color.

017

Obviously, it couldn’t stay like this, so… TA DA!!

Much improved.

P.S. I want to send a special shout-out to those who serve to protect our freedoms.  Especially my favorite Marine family: Daniel and Katy.  Thanks for all the sacrifices you guys make.  I love you both.
